I could have sworn I saw this thread a few weeks ago, but now I can't
find it...
In switching from Majordomo 1.6 to 1.92, I also switched from Sun's
sendmail (under SunOS 4.1.1) to Berkeley sendmail 8.6.9 (under SunOS
4.1.3).
Unlike the earlier setup, list owners are now getting many messages of
the form:
--Begin Example--
>From Mailer-Daemon@Sun.COM Thu Nov 17 11:08 PST 1994
>From: Mail Delivery Subsystem <MAILER-DAEMON@freewheel.Stanford.EDU>
Subject: Returned mail: Service unavailable
To: bikecommute-owner@freewheel.Stanford.EDU
The original message was received at Thu, 17 Nov 1994 09:15:49 -0800
from daemon@localhost

Receiving 3
451 ride@cycnet.pn.com... timeout waiting for input during client greeting
451 ride@cycnet.pn.com... reply: read error from pioneer.ci.net.
etc.
--End Example--
Should I be concerned about this? Or did Sun's sendmail simply deal
with these cases silently?
Thanks for your suggestions!
