Here is a letter I received from a list subscriber in my continuing
odyssey to figure out what the hell is going on... it is slightly
edited to preserve privacy.
The messages he is referring to have "Approved:" in the body of
a message. The ones he's referring to as blank have "Approved:"
in the header. I have gotten another message to the effect that
a long string of "Mime-Version: 1.0" headers preceeded their
message.
Any advice would be more than appreciated.

The system is running BSDI 1.1, running the current version of sendmail
(whatever the hell that is), wrapped in tcpwrappers. I use ELM to
read mail, but that's not the issue -- there's *NOTHING* in the
notes, but there is a header set and a signature. It's on the other
end somewhere.
Plus, today I got one that was obviously the back half of a mailing,
only having from about halfway through the order form to the end of
the note, and none of the info about what I might order... I can
forward that toyou if you like.
Oh -- I forget: The headers do not look reasonable at all. Like
what's with the 60 repeated "Mime-Version" headers,and *WHY* is
that not an "X-" header?? It's *NOT* standard SMTP for damn sure...
