I am working on doing that here.

If you are using INN, you can write to Rich Salz and get his
'newsgate' package modified for use with INN. ...

"This is the current BETA software. Please do not redistribute it.
Please do *NOT* make it available for FTP. If you get requests,
please send those people to me [rsalz@uunet.uu.net]. I do not want
people to use old unreleased when the official version becomes
available. "

The public versions available work with cnews and bnews.

Write to: rsalz@uunet.uu.net.

The mail to news gateway is easy once you have the software compiled.
You just need an alias that turns mail into a news posting, e.g.,

ua.test: "|/news/lib/local/mail2news -n ua.test"

and subscribe that "user" into the majordomo list.

newsgate is designed to create mailing lists gatewayed to newsgroups
and visa versa...

I believe they are called "exploders"... you create a local majordomo
list to 'explode' out the messages, then subscribe that user to
another majordomo list...

Having never tried this, I will not put my foot in things to much
[more!]. Having it totally transparent to your end users should not
be too hard, but you do have to be careful not to create bouncing
mail messages...

If I am barking up the wrong tree with this, please let me know.

Cheers
Russell
