Subject:	duplicate names in list?

When I printed out my list (by sending a WHO command) I noticed several
addresses were 
entered in duplicate. 
* does the software check for duplication before entering the name? 
*  does the duplication mean that those names get double mail? 
*  how do you remove one of the duplicates, not the other?
