I would say yes.

Use resend to reqrite the sender address so that bounces from the
exploder go to the admin of the exploder, not to the admin of the
list. There is nothing worse than getting a bounce message from a
user who isn't subscribed to your list, but is instead subscribed to
an exploder on your list. Its a pain in the ass to track down.
Other than the sender, don't screw around with the header fields this
leaves the reply-to addresses and the base addresses the same. You may
want to add a fronter/footer to the message saying that this is being
sent via an exploder, and that people should subscribe/unsubscribe
from the exploder and not from the main list.
Also set up an info file for you local exploder that tells people
where to send subscribe/unsubscribe messages. Sometimes people get
confused, and don't bother looking at the footer/fronters you put on
the messages anyway 8-(. I would suggest sending the info file to the
exploder addresses on a regular basis.
A properly run exploder can may you a list admins friend for life.
An improperly run exploder can make you an enemy for life.

It may not be worth the hassle of a mailing list to save some bytes
comming down the pipeline. Other than that I can't think of any
reason. I routinely set up exploders for more then three people. I
also archive these lists locally.
