Excerpted from the majordomo(8) man page, under COMMANDS:

          get list file

          Get the file related to list.

          index list

          Return an index of the files you can get associated with
          list.

These commands were intended to be used to retrieve archives of mailing
lists, but are useful for general file retrieval by mail as well. Mj
can be configured to forward such requests to an ftpmail server for
generalized file retrieval. Be sure that $filedir, $filedir_suffix,
@archive_dirs, $ftpmail_address, and $ftpmail_location are set
appropriately in your majordomo.cf file for 'index' and 'get' to work
properly.

Also, but probably not what you're thinking of, is the <list>.info file.
