I had the same problem, but it was related to the sticky bits. Make sure
that your wrapper is set up something like this :
-rwsrwsr-x 1 root majordom 37251 Jun 13 16:27 wrapper*
The difference is the u+s and g+s bits, which made my system change from
doing exactly what you're experiencing to flawless operation.
