Hi, Jason.

I have 5 years experience with HP-UX (not THAT heavy as it sounds, though)
and I spent a total of about 2 weeks to get MD 1.93 up and running.
MD wasn't the biggest problem, in those 2 weeks I actually spent most time
installing sendmail 8.6.12 and perl 4.036 to get MD up and running without
problems. If you read the faq and the installation guide, you should be
able to have a go at it in very short time (that is, with a working
sendmail and perl)
If you use perl version 5, make sure it's 5.001e. My advice is 4.036.

the faq can be reached at http://www.math.psu.edu/barr/majordomo-faq.html
(there may be others, too.)

In my opinion, the most difficult things to get right was the aliases
for sendmail, and setting all the file locations correct in majordomo.cf.
Of course, tuning the <list>.config files may also be a headache.

I've just recently installed majordomo, so I haven't had that much of traffic
yet. But I do not run any moderated lists, and subscriptions are still
open. The biggest problem for my users is spelling the listnames correctly :)

The efforts administering the lists would depend on subscription policy
and moderation (IMHO). Basically, my lists live their own happy life (almost)
without intervention.

Level of experience ? Well, if you can send mail and edit a file,
you should be able to get at least real close.

If you need any help concerning majordomo, I'll try to help.
I can also mail you my setup, if needed.

Good luck!

Kenneth.
