# installing majordomo on FreeBSD is very easy. use the BSD
# defaults in the makefile. define the majordom user and group and away
# you go. perl-4.036 and perl-5.001 are available for FreeBSD as
# precompiled packages....or if you prefer use the ports, which are source,

I just finished setting up MD on a FBSD box and it was pretty straightforward.
I used 1.92 with perl 5.000 on FBSD 1.1.5.1R I had to manually patch the
perl scripts for the changes necessitated by perl 5.000 (e.g., escaping '@').
Perhaps the biggest source of problems were buglets in the MD documentation,
examples, etc. It took me quite a while to decipher the correct set of
aliases and how to most efficiently organize my directory structure (I didn't
like the "one size fits all" advocated in the examples). Also had a few
problems associated with FTPmail to resolve -- tho' these proved to be
problems on FBSD's side of the fence.
All in all, pretty straightforward...
