Yes, I've previously inquired as to workarounds for this -- but
no replies.  It's even worse with, e.g., the firewalls aliases
in ./digest (wherein multiple aliases are used for each list to
simplify the aliases).  I've a couple of ideas on how to "fix"
this but I have to evaluate which is the most portable.  I'd
appreciate any other comments...
