Both Mark and I were having problems with blank messages in our lists. My
blank messages were in the digests, and I think I may have found the
problem (or mine, at least).

The person sending mail that wasn't getting his messages digested properly
was putting spaces in front of all his lines. What I'm assuming is the
digester when it is scanning to remove non-relevant header lines continues
to scan beyond the header looking for the first line of the body. If it
thinks it is still in the header, a line that begins with a space will be
treated as a header line. Example:

X-Geek: GE/CS d++(---) H-- s+:- g++ au+ a- w+ v+(?*) C++ US+++$
       P+ E--- K !W(---) M++$ V++$ -po+ t+ 5+ R G+ tv(+++) b++>+++
       !D e++ h--(*) r(---*) n+(----) !y

Once the digester hits a line that starts with an alphanumberic character
and does not start with a header keyword, then it treats that line and the
rest as the body of the message and relays the rest of the message intact.

My questions are:

1) How right am I?

2) Which of the above effects are done by Majordomo and which by sendmail?

3) What determines the separation between the header and the body? I
thought it was the first blank line. If my above assumptions are correct,
shouldn't there be no problem sending a message with spaces preceeding each
line?
