umm, we have restrict post already.  it's not great, but it's better
than nothing.

what i do is this (as of friday, when the adventures of "David & Olga"
finally exceeded my tolerance level):  i have restrict post set to
two files, the mailing list itself and a parallel list of additional,
permitted addresses, for example

italian-cars-digest
italian-cars-digest.allowed

the thing i'd like to have is some sort of administrative tool to help
keep track of this maze, as the .allowed file can easily build up old
addresses that are no longer relevant.
