documentation needed

I am not an expert in perl as yet.  Does anyone have any experience in 
the use of makeindex.pl with majordomo.  Is there a faq that explains 
makeindex or other script programs.

I posted many times here and once  to list-managers. Thought someone would
have some info there but no dice.

I could really use some hints.
