I have apparently blasted my aliases file into smithereens while
performing an upgrade so that my tape reader would work better, and as
the tape reader isn't working right yet I haven't been able to
retrieve current backups of it. I have several mailing lists which
are digested using the digest script and when they were sent out
majordomo somehow would pop the complete digest into a file called
v001n123 where 001 is the volume and 123 is the number. Assuming the
name of the list is fubar and fubar-digest is the digested version,
the digest script would keep individual messages in
/usr/local/mail/Digests/fubar-digest/001 and so on until the digest
passes the size limit and then it would be sent out and a copy of the
digest put in /usr/local/mail/Lists/fubar-digest.archive/v01n123.
Unfortunately, though I have been able to get the direct reflecting
version of fubar and other mailing lists working, and digest pops them
into the correct directory for compilation, it doesn't actually send
out the digests or put them into the appropriate archive directory.
None of the settings in any of the config files or the directory
permissions have changed. I know the problem is in the aliases file.
If you have an aliases file that does something like this for your
copy of majordomo (1.92) please send it my way. I'd greatly
appreciate it. Thanks.
