Did you just send it 'subscribe' or 'subscribe some-list-name'? If the
latter, does the list name contain upper-case characters? Even if you
want the list name to have upper-case, create and refer to the file and
directories in your aliases and configuration in all lower-case.

Including write permissions for Majordomo on all the directories? Don't
forget the log file and its directory.
