Help. I am the owner of several broadly-used majordomo-managed lists,
and I get 100s of bounces per week. I'm tired of sifting through them,
and would rather have these bounces go to some black hole than to clutter
my in-basket. Here's how my lists are now configured:
reply_to = $SENDER
sender = owner-listname
The FAQ addresses this question in:
How do I direct bounces to the right address?
It states, however, that by setting sender to owner-listname resend
would "force outgoing mail to have the out-of-band envelope FROM
be "owner-listname".
I also saw in the FAQ a way of setting up a "bounces" list. But I'd rather
ignore the bounces that manage them at this point. Can I send these
messages to some bogus address (without wasting disk space)? Do I just
set "sender" to this bogus address? Is there a better way?
Question 2: In an attempt to fix the above problem, I changed some config
option that resulted in senders getting (some?) bounces back to them. Which
options control this (besides "sender")?
Respond directly to me, please.
