We do it all the time.  Well, the archiving, not the digests.
For instance, mail to unixsys goes to an archive file and to a
request tracking tracking system, but unixsys is not a majordomo
list,  Here's the relevent entries from an alias file:

unixsys: unixsys@emily.cs.utah.edu, unxsyslg
unxsyslg: "|/usr/site/lib/majordomo/wrapper archive2.pl -a -m -f /usr/help/sys/MailArchives/unixsys"


For a digest, I imagine you would replace the 'archive2.pl -a -whatever'
with 'digest -whatever'
