Hi folks,
We're just starting a new listserv, and though we've gotten through some of
the initial learning curve, there are still a few snags that I am DESPERATE
for some assistance with. Any kind souls willing to help out a newbie
would be greatly appreciated.
We are accessing: Majordomo version 1.93
We are using: Eudora version 1.5.3
The main problems:
1. We have 10 or so people to whom we send "test" listserv letters
via majordomo. When the people receive messages, they get an "Apparently
To:" line, followed by a subscriber address; and they get this line for
EVERY other subscriber to the list who shares the same internet service
provider. So for example, if I use AOL and am a subscriber to our listserv
letter, my copy of the letter will contain something like the following in
the header / footer:
Apparently To: joeblow@aol.com
Apparently To: susiQ@aol.com
Apparently To: georgew@aol.com and so on, and so on, ad infinitum..
How can I prevent this? My service provider suggested addressing the
letter using the Bcc: line in Eudora, but that didn't work. Any other
suggestions??
2. I can't seem to get a "subject" to apper in the letter. For example,
when I get e-mail in Eudora, the In-Box displays info on the SENDER, the
TIME, the SIZE, and the SUBJECT. But when we receive listserv letters from
majordomo, the subject line is blank. We've tried manipulating the
digest_name, & subject_prefix parameters, and of course, we've tried typing
in a subject in the subject line of the header of the command message to
majordomo. Nothing works. Any takers on that problem??
3. Along the same lines as above, we want the FROM: text to be displayed
in the following format:
[listname]@[domainname].com
Currently, it's in the format:
owner-[listname]@[service provider's domain].com
I tried changing the SENDER parameter from "owner-[listname]" to just plain
"[listname]"; this apparently caused majordomo to send letters to itself in
an infinite loop! How do we control these output variables better without
causing majordomo-demolition?
Thanks in advance for your help.
