Subject: Invalid Address Bouncing Problems

Hi.

I have recently had majordomo set up on our e-mail server. I have been
testing sending messages to invalid accounts and expecting the list owner
to get Delivery Error Reports bounced back to them. When a message goes to
an invalid account on our server (the same one that majordomo is installed
on), the Delivery Failure report gets bounced back to the owner. When a
message goes to an invalid account on a different box or to an invalid host
name, the Delivery Failure report gets bounced back to the majordomo owner.

Does anybody have any ideas why majordomo is making the distinction between
invalid accounts on our box and invalid accounts on a different box? I
believe that the owner-<listname>-outgoing alias should be used for all of
the delivery failure reports. Is it a problem with our majordomo
configuration?

Please send your ideas directly to my e-mail address,
mschille@mail.educ.gov.bc.ca, since I may unsubscribe myself from the list
in the near future.

Thanks.
