I had the same problem on my system, the same thing, just with a Solaris 5.2
The only way I fixed it, was to:
-double check all your permissions
-do all the necessary files for the list exist in the right place?
-check your syntax in /etc/group
-check your syntax in /etc/aliases
-remember any warnings while compiling perl?
-crossreference uid's for root, majordom against those in
-use POSIX flags, System V machine, right?
After that, what version of sendmail are you using?
