I have the problem in spades!!!, and on the same exact setup. I finally
resolved it by going to a simple mailing list (i.e., not using "resend" in
majordomo), but using majordomo of subscriptions and unsubs and info. I also
lengthened the sendmail queue from "-q15m" to "-q1h" which seemed to help. I
did not find a permanent fix. Apparently, Linux has a broken flock() which
causes this problem.

Let me know if you find a permanent solution.
