Well, I think there are lots of different things that will cause double 
messages.  After examining the headers of double messages on my own list, I 
(with help) found that they were all going through a common mail server, 
which was sending back the messages to the list.  I figured out which address 
was responsible, unsubscribed it, and no more doubles.
