Someone subscribed the -request address of one of my mailing lists to
the list, which started a loop of majordomo talking to itself. The
box, which is normally at a load of sub 1.00 was sitting at a load of
5-6 when I finally figured out what it was doing. Is there any way a
feature could be added to 1.94 so that majordomo won't talk to itself?
Perhaps it could search the header for something that only majordomo
puts in (ie: perhaps something to the elm X-Mailer: header) and if it
finds it, it will silently exit without responding to the message
(sending the message to the bit bucket).
The only problem I foresee is that would break mailing lists feeding
mailing lists, but IMHO that is a bad idea anyway. If you really want
to do that, there should be a human in the middle forwarding only
appropriate messages from one to the other.
