I have just set up MD on IRIX 5.3 computers just recently. I ran into this
problem and was able to fix it, but I am using NFS and automount on our LAN
which was causing my problems. If you are, this may help. The
automount.options file in /etc/config had to be changed so that nosuid was not
an option. Then you have to restart networking. I hope this helps.
