list owner

Is it normal for the list owner to receive a copy of each message sent
to the list, even though he is NOT subscribed? While debugging my list
setup I subscribed myself to the list, and saw that I appeared in the
~~majordomo/lists/listname file. After seeing that everything was OK, I
unsubscribed from the list, received a confirmation from majordomo,
and saw that my name was removed from the list file. BUT, I'm still
receiving messages! I suppose that in most cases the list owner would
want to receive all messages, but I'm just starting this for someone
else who will be taking over in a month or two.
