noadvertise works almost always

Thanks for all the suggestions to my problem of "noadvertise still
advertising". Well, 
noadvertise   <<  END
/.*/
END
works fine on all lists except one -- I'm not a member of this list so that's
not the problem. There's nothing unusual about this list that I can find. All
rights and ownerships are the same for this list's files as the other lists.
What am I overlooking?
