I know that I have seen this item or something very much like it
discussed here, but I can't find it and there doesn't seem to be a
reference to it in the FAQ.
Basically I am hosting a mj1.93 mailing list which has the restrict
post option set so that only the list-owners and the list subscribers
can post to the list. For the vast majority of users this works
fine. However, one lady who is coming into the list from
pipeline.com is having a machine name prepended to her e-mail
address. What is worse, it appears that this machine name is there
sometimes, and sometimes not. Whether the machine name changes over
time is something that I cannot confirm, but I suspect that this has
happened to her on occassion as well. So in the end she can have an
email address of:
hername@pipeline.com
hername@pop.pipeline.com
and possibly
hername@mail.pipeline.com
As a brute force solution I can add another file to the restrict post
list and place all known varients of her address in there. The
question I have is: "Is there a better or more general way to
accomplish the same thing using regular expressions?"
Regards,
Jim
