What's your aliases file look like? I invoke majordomo via the wrapper 
program from my aliases file:

majordomo: "|/usr/opt/lib/majordomo/wrapper majordomo -C /usr/opt/lib/majordomo/
majordomo.cf"

(This is mjd 1.94.1 on SunOS 4.1.x)
