Then why bother even having the things on the web page? My point was more
towards the access via the web page being incredible slow. To grab the Dec
96 archive takes the better part of 25 minutes for a 567k file (unix
compressed. gzip would have made it 366k). This is mostly because of:

You're right. It would be quicker to grab it via email, or even via
the web, than waiting for answers on the list. But even something as
simple as a hypermail archive and a glimpse search engine could prevent a
bunch of these questions from even reaching the list. I know it would have
prevented mine.
