Subject: Digesting ABORT -- no apparent reason....

I have majordomo 1.94.1 all set up and running nicely, EXCEPT that
digesting (which runs from a daily cron job) aborts with the following
message:

>>>> mkdigest opcode-users-digest opcode-users-digest.admin
mj_digest: ABORT
No messages.
Stopped

Which isn't the case, as this "ls" from the digest work directory shows:

services:/home/majordomo/digests/opcode-users-digest# ls

So, I have almost 300 messages piled up in the directory (owned by
majordom:majordom, mode 755; all 300 files the same), that mj_digest
simply won't see. It knows the directory is there, because if I point it
at a non-existant directory, it barfs completely differently:

mj_digest: ABORT
shlock: '/home/majordomo/dummy/opcode-users-digest' does not exist

Any ideas on this? It's making me completely crazy....
