Stupid? I assume that the proper market research has gone into that
decision. If you truly intend to place no restrictions on your lists and
state so in your terms of service then you are truly in for a shock. Large
lists and high traffic lists (or worse, large high-traffic lists) can place
enormous burdens on the server machines, and can reduce performance for
_all_ lists that a server runs.

I wouldn't pretend to speak for the folks at Greatcircle, but the license
expressly permits you to use Majordomo to provide a service which you
charge for. Whether or not money-making business choose to give something
back to the Majordomo community is entirely up to them.
I think though that charges for list management services are not
specifically Majordomo questions and might best be directed at a more
general forum. list-managers@greatcircle.com comes to mind, but I am not
certain if such subjects would be welcome there.
