The name of my mailing list is 'listname@h2olily.com'. Even though I have
a moderated list, it appearers that people can post messages to the list by
sending email to 'owner-listname@h2olily.com'.
I have the kind of moderated list where I approve each message by hand. In
my pond-config file, I have set the 'moderate' option to 'moderate =
yes'.
Email comes to me for approval. At first I tried to use the directions in
the MD 1.94 FAQ 3.10 which says:
"If you don't have access to approved, you have to do it by hand. The
easiest way is to forward the original message to the list, add the line
"Approved:_approval-password_" to the very first line of the body, leave a
blank line, and then the entire contents of the original message. (meaning
there should be a blank line before and after the "Approved:" line."
Messages addressed to the list get bounced to me alright, but I found that
I could not leave a blank line. I had to edit out a bunch of the message,
usually down to the 'date' line, then type in:
Approved: password
And with out a black line, send the message back to the list. This works
most of the time, but many messages come to me in many different formats,
from many different mailers. So I am not sure how to edit them. Many get
bounced a few times before I get it right. Sometimes messages make it to
the list, but the subject says:
BOUNCE listname@h2olily.com: Approval Required
And the return address has 'owner' added to it. As in:
owner-listname@h2olily.com
People reply to the 'owner' messages, and mail heads right back into the
list with out my approval.
What am I doing wrong????? I am running Linux as my Unix software, and
sendmail.
Thanks everyone!
jack
