Let me explain what I see as a good reason to ask on the list (despite
the fact that it generates more e-mail for you), by way of example:
If I e-mail someone and find out they're using HP-UX, that won't
help me, 'cuz I know nothing about HP-UX. Someone using
Majordomo on HP-UX who reads majordomo-users wouldn't see the
response telling the vital information, and thus couldn't help
the person with the problem.
On the other paw, if I cc the list, the person answering will
probably cc the list as well. And then if someone out there
knows of some HP-UX w/Majordomo quirk, they'll see the problem
and be able to help the person with the problem.
Though people might not always be gentle (that's a separate issue),
the above reasoning works, IMNSHO. In case you're wondering, I'm
cc'ing the whole list *not* to be immature or to humiliate you, but
just in case others haven't thought of this.
Cheers,
Kendall
