I may have solved the problem that I mentioned previously about trying to
unsubscribe from a new list. It now works and doesn't write L.test and
test.new in the list directory and the command works. My question is
about permissions for directories and files under Majordomo. According
to the FAQ and other docs, all directories under Majordomo must be at
least 740 or 755 and user and group owned by majordom. It also says that
all file that Majordomo creates must be 660 or 664 and user and group
owned by majordom. The list files you create should be user and group
owned by majordom, and the permissions should also be 660 or 664. The
permissions/ownership of the Majordomo programs (majordomo, resend, etc)
must be readable by majordom user/group, but other permissions are not as
critical. All Majordomo programs must also have the executable
permission. My main question is- what permissions are generally used for
Majordomo programs?
Before I go ahead and move all my lists over to use the new version, I
want to make sure everything has the correct permissions. I have
designated EVERYTHING under the majordomo directory, including directories,
as user and group owned by "majordom". All programs are
executable. All directories are set to 775. All list files in the list
directory are are 664. How does the $config_umask in the majordomo.cf
affect the default permissions?
I have tried to summarize the permissions and ownership for Majordomo
files and I am interested in any critical information that I should know
before I move everything over.
