I am pleased (although somewhat reluctant) to announce the availability of
version 1.03 of MajorCool, a Web interface to Majordomo. MajorCool can be
found at:
http://ncrinfo.ncr.com/pub/contrib/unix/MajorCool/
The reason for my reluctance is that I know that there are still some minor
bugs to squash that I just haven't had time to work on. Given my immediate
calendar, the prospects are slim. Employment can be such a pain, ya' know?
Sure it pays the bills, but it can interfere with the "fun stuff"...
This version fixes a number of problems with the current 1.00 distribution,
so it is worth releasing even in its slightly imperfect condition. Key
changes/improvements for this release:
o Support for 1.94 who_access and info_access.
o The is_subscribed() regular expression matching routine was rewritten to
use the mail-parsing functions of Majordomo. This eliminates the need to
use the '\b' word boundary character in siteaddr(), which was getting
interpreted as backspace and causing some browsers to complain.
o No more requirement to add an "owner" keyword to all list config files.
The "owner" is still a nice feature and buys some additional system
management capabilities, but that is more a Majordomo issue than MajorCool.
Therefore, this version will work on any out-of-the-box Majordomo
installation.
o Support for HTTP Cookies was added in order to provide per-user control
of such things as Browser caching, list sorting, and other presentation
preferences.
o Now uses Majordomo's valid_passwd() routine to validate password. This
allows MajorCool to recognize list.pass file droppings.
As always: bug reports accepted and bug fixes truly appreciated.
