Yikes. OK, if you really have to do it, the quickest and simplest way
that will be most compatible is (off the top of my head).
Modify the approve script to bounce messages on to the listname-request
address.
Keep administrivia = yes so that the BOUNCE messages are generated.
Use procmail, elm filter, or your favourite mail filter to catch messages
to listname-owner with BOUNCE in the subject. Pipe such messages to
the modified approve script.
Awkward, but it could be done in a few minutes if you already have
procmail or filter set up.
Once you've got it working, have a go at resend. It should be easy to slot
something in around the section thus commented:
