e-mail chars

Involving _all_ e-mail, what exactly is the standard for accepted
characters in an e-mail address? I've had MD do a couple funky
things from abnormal characters. 

btw: thanks to all for assisting with that -admin commands in
the body- problem. Still not solved, for I am still required
to do it. Sucks to be me.
