sample regexp for exclude all

I'm afraid that I'm in need of a sample of what the intended format of
the noadvertise entry is.  In trying to hide a list, I tried these:

noadvertise         <<  END
  /*/
END

noadvertise  << END
  /.*/
END

noadvertise << END
  *
END


to no avail -- none either produced errors or hid the list from the
'lists' command.
