If you are looking at the "From:" header, that is set by the MUA (Mail
User Agent: the user's program). The only thing our server sets is the
envelope "From " which I believe our mail server actually should be
setting as mail.kayhay.com, at least if the mail actually originates on
that machine. Put it this way, the sendmail.cf on the mail server has
mail.kayhay.com as the name to masquerade as, so it should show as
mail.kayhay.com rather than as people.kayhay.com.
So I would expect that the problem is most likely that the user's MUA
programs on various machines, or different MUAs (eudora, netscape,
pegasus, whatever) may be differently set; or if they have multi-user
support perhaps when they log in differently on their machine perhaps the
different user-profiles have different "From:" field settings.
In any event it seems unlikely that sendmail set to appear as
mail.kayhay.com would take the trouble to change plain kayhay.com to
people.kayhay.com, if it was going to change it at all it ought to be
changing it to mail.kayhay.com.
I do not know whether majordomo uses the envelope "From " pseudoheader or
the "From:" header; perhaps the former to cut down a little on spoofing.
So I am Cc:-ing the majordomo list for info on that angle.
