This must be the most common source of confusion at the present time - I
wonder if the docs and/or FAQ maintainers might consider reworking the
relevant sections ? That's obvioulsy a cue for me to have a re-read and
come up with suggestions, which I'll do.

Almost certainly you're not runing the outbound list through 'resend'.
What you're seeing is the standard behavior of your MTA (sendmail?). You
need to review the documentation and implement your outgoing aliases via
the 'resend' progam, as per the samples.
