Well, I guess the people who replied to my earlier message were correct.
Whoever set up the RPM package for majordomo didn't know what they were
doing!
The solution was to delete the package, then get the distribution from the
GreatCircle ftp site and re-install. Fairly painless (this time!).
We're back up and running.
