slowly being redressed (MajorCool | plans for majordomo 2 etc) - but
there's still a really big gap I'll admit ...

Hmm - this is not a listproc/majordomo point at all - it's a mail transport
agent (MTA) thing. I believe the difference is in the fact that listproc
come with a decent MTA which is much better for lists than the usual
standard for a UNIX box (sendmail). On the other hand you can get public
domain replacements for sendmail that are also MUCH better (qmail and
exim). In other words - this actually comes down to an ease of set-up
things again (with listproc you get a decent MTA ready to go nice and easy
- with a majordomo based system it's up to you to get a decent MTA to get
sendmail out of the way).
