Subject: Valid return address?

I am attempting to run Majordomo 1.94.3 on a Linux 2.0.29 box and
also an Intel box running NEXTSTEP 3.3. I have had a previous
version, though I cannot remember which, running successfully on the
Linux box but that was back in March of this year.

On both systems I get the same problem and it has been driving me
round the bend. The solution is probably so simple that it is a
kick-self but I cannot for the life of me see it. I have set up
majordomo as set out in the documentation, and as I previously did
for the version that worked, but alas nothing seems to work.

On both systems I get majordomo aborting with the same error message:

Whoami: is not a valid return address.

with whoami the address specified in majordomo.cf.

I have had a look at the code in majordomo and so far as I can see
majordomo cannot get a value for $reply_to. Is this correct? How can
I fix the problem?

Both systems are running sendmail 8.8.5 and either perl 5.002 or
5.003.

I would be grateful for any advice on the matter. I apologize in
advance if this is a problem whose solution I should have seen.

L J Davies.
