I am using MJ 1.94.3, and I have a list with "subscribe_policy =
auto+confirm". This should allow anybody to subscribe anybody (with a
confirmation message to the one being subscribed). However, it doesn't
seem to work. This always happens when a user insists on subscribing from
a different account than the one they want to receive mail on. I
(list-owner) still get messages asking if I want to approve the
subscription, and the original sender gets back the usual
Your request to Majordomo@lists.virtus.com:
subscribe xxx yyy@zzz.net
has been forwarded to the owner of the "xxx" list for approval.
This could be for any of several reasons:
You might have asked to subscribe to a "closed" list, where all new
additions must be approved by the list owner.
You might have asked to subscribe or unsubscribe an address other than
the one that appears in the headers of your mail message.
I don't believe this should be happening; am I wrong? Would it be
different if the confirmation message wasn't required?
Come to think of it, I think the same thing happens when they unsubscribe.
We have "unsubscribe_policy = auto", but I still have to approve a lot of
them.
