chmod problem

Hello all,
  I am running majordomo 1.94.3 on a linux box, and everything works great
except for approving unsubscribe requests.  I get the following ABORT message:



MAJORDOMO ABORT (mj_majordomo)!!

chmod(33205, "/home/majordomo/lists/scimembers.new"): Operation not permitted



The permissions on the wrapper program and on the mentioned file are 777.  I've
tried almost every combination of permissions, too.  Also, 'wrapper
config-test' reports no errors.  Any ideas as to what's wrong?
