I have just set up a mailling list server using Majordomo and I experience
performance problem.

For many days I checked the system, using lists of 3 to 10 address, and
everything was working properly. The Majordomo request-response were sent
immediately, as well a the messages I posted.

Yesterday a replace the list file (used for the tests) by the real list,
containing about 1000 address. I posted a message and it takes more than 3
hours to send to all subscribers. During the first quarter of an hour, the
system put all the messages in the mail queue, and then stared to send
them. I suppose it send them one by one. (waiting the first message to be
finished before beginnig the second).

As I have no experience using Majordomo, I don't know how it usually works.
Is there any way to improve it, to make it sending many messages in the
same time ?

Anyway, my system seems to have very poor performance, whereas it is a high
performance PC (Pentium 166 MHz & 32 MB Ram). The operating system is Linux
(kernel version 2.0.30) and the mailer is Sendmail (version 8.8.4).
The list I run is not mederate, but restrict_post is used.

Could you please tell me what to do to improve performance.

Thank you for your help.
