I'm not sure to well understand your environment; tell me if my
hipothesis is correct or not:
You're setting Majordomo in a YP (correct name is NIS) domain (or
network, as you call it) and you (or your sysadmin) share aliases
database via NIS, and DNS is working too.
Well SUN is a little different from other vendors about DNS and NIS.
You should check in your nsswitch.conf file the order of nis and dns
services and put dns before nis, i.e.
hosts: dns nis .........
Maybe this is the solution to your problem.
