empty subject line

One of my pet peeves is empty subject lines. These prevent readers
using threads, and inhibit readers from deleting articles before
opening them up, which should be a god given right.

I don't have the time or the inclination to moderate everything, and
that's the only way I can see of preventing empty subject lines. Does
anyone know a better way? Does anyone know if there is currently
something on the official wish list which could achieve my aims?
