Here's a strange problem I've been trying to debug all day. New
install of 1.94.4 on Digital Unix 3.2c (yeah, I know it's old!), with
Perl 5.004_04. (I saw one comment about something with Digital Unix
and perl, and I did have problems with 4.x, but not with 5.004.)
Installation went fine, tested fine. General list management of a
test list works wonderfully with sub and unsub and approvals working
as expected. However, both administrivia and taboo fail totally.
Debug shows that the right bounce subject content is being created
(and the bad content is being found), but the mail goes to the wrong
place! (I even tried the resend -s option; no difference!)
Here's the resend.debug output from an email with 'cancel' as the
content:
/usr/local/majordomo/resend: parse_body: enter
/usr/local/majordomo/resend: parse_body: exiting with ' Admin request
of type /\ bcancel\b/i at line 1 '
/usr/local/majordomo/resend: bounce enter
/usr/local/majordomo/resend: bounce exiting
What I get back is a semi-normal error email from Majordomo as if
the syntax was wrong (well, yeah, it was, but I want the BOUNCE:
subject!). What comes back looks like this.
Subject: Majordomo results: Returned mail: User unknown
BTW, the *exact* same result with a taboo body word, so it's not just
administrivia!
This test case is on a closed list, and I've tried both configing
the bounces to go to the moderator and to the owner (same email,
same results). Any ideas as to what to try next? I couldn't find
anything in the archives about problems like this. (It's made for a
real fun Sunday, I'll tell you!) Thanks for any hints.
