You are over-estimating the power of mungedomain. The comments
say that it makes @dom.ain.com equivalent to @ain.com, but it
says nothing about @other.ain.com as you are trying to do.

If you zubscribe as @ams.org, you should be able to use
@machine1.ams.org, @machine2.ams.org, etc.
